Encasement is what fire-rates the structural frame. It is the difference between a building that survives an incident and one that loses its insurance.
We encase steel sections to certified plasterboard and calcium silicate systems, including all the awkward connections, brackets and gusset plates that test specs do not always show. Every encased element is photographed, logged against its system reference, and uploaded to Dalux as part of the live traceability record.
Beams, columns and connections
Universal beams, columns, hollow sections and complex connections all get encased to the same fire performance as the linear sections. Where the test detail does not exactly match the connection geometry, we engage the system manufacturer for a written assessment rather than guessing at extrapolation.
Service encasement
Risers, ductwork penetrations, sprinkler mains, refuge stairs. Anything that crosses a compartment line gets encased to maintain the fire separation. Penetration sealing details are coordinated with the M&E packages and signed off by the fire engineer.
Why our encasements pass third-party inspection
Photographic record per element, system reference per detail, all uploaded to Dalux against the building information model. When the third-party fire inspector turns up at handover, we hand them a tablet, not a folder of paper. They tend to remember it.
