Supporting Tamworth Samaritans: our 2026 charity partnership
We're partnering with Tamworth Samaritans through 2026. Funding two months of branch running costs, or training 24 new volunteers. Here's why mental health in construction matters to us.
Trent Valley Contracting are proud to be raising funds for Tamworth Samaritans in 2026. They provide 24/7, free, confidential emotional support to anyone who needs someone to listen, without judgement.
Why this charity, this year
We know how hard the construction industry can be. Behind the hard hats and high-vis are real people facing pressure, stress, financial worries and mental health struggles, often in silence.
In the UK, around three in four suicides are men, with the highest risk among men aged 35–55. In construction, the risk runs higher than the national average.
Tamworth Samaritans, established in 1976, supports UK-wide callers and serves the Tamworth and Lichfield communities directly. They run long-standing partnerships with Tamworth Borough Council, Support Staffordshire, HMP/YOI Swinfen Hall, Network Rail and Tamworth Rail Station. They are exactly the kind of charity that reaches the people our industry doesn’t always.
What our 2026 target funds
It costs £36,000 a year to keep the Tamworth Samaritans branch open.
The money we aim to raise will cover:
- Two months of branch running costs, or
- 24 new volunteers trained and supported on the phone lines
The volunteers are vital. They keep the lines open and they’re there for someone in their darkest moments. We want to back as many of them as we can.
How you can help
We’ve already run two events this year and the team is planning more across 2026. If your business works alongside ours (main contractors, suppliers, trades, partners), we’d love your support too.
Your donation could help a friend, a colleague or a loved one through their darkest moments. Please donate, share, and help us look after the people who keep this industry moving.
If you or someone you know needs to talk, Samaritans are available 24/7 on 116 123 (free from any phone in the UK and Ireland) or by emailing jo@samaritans.org.
