This statement is published by Trent Valley Contracting Limited in line with the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It sets out the steps we take to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our business or in our supply chain.
This statement applies to the financial year ending 31 December 2025 and supersedes any previous statement.
Our commitment
Trent Valley Contracting Limited is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour, child labour and human trafficking. We expect the same standards from our suppliers, subcontractors and other business partners.
Our business
We are a drylining and ceiling contractor based in Lichfield, Staffordshire. We deliver internal partitioning, suspended ceilings, drylining, encasement, acoustic and steel framing systems to main contractors, developers and fit-out firms across the UK. We employ our operatives and supervisors directly under PAYE contracts. We do not subcontract our installation labour to chains we cannot trace.
Our supply chain
Our supply chain consists primarily of:
- UK-based manufacturers and distributors of plasterboard, steel framing, ceiling tiles and ancillary drylining products.
- UK-registered specialist subcontractors used selectively for ancillary scopes (for example, scaffolding and access).
- Recruitment agencies for office and pre-construction roles, all UK-registered and operating under UK employment law.
The major manufacturers we work with (British Gypsum, Knauf, Siniat, Rockfon, Ecophon, Zentia and others) publish their own modern slavery statements, which we review.
Policies
The following internal policies set out our position and expectations:
- Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy.
- Code of Conduct for staff, applicable to all directly employed personnel.
- Supplier and Subcontractor Code, included in our standard onboarding documentation.
- Whistleblowing Policy, allowing concerns to be raised confidentially.
- Recruitment and Right to Work checks aligned with UK Home Office guidance.
Due diligence
We carry out the following due diligence in respect of modern slavery risk:
- Right to work checks for all directly employed personnel, performed before the first day of work.
- Pre-qualification of subcontractors, including review of their modern slavery statement where they are large enough to be required to publish one.
- Use of pre-qualification platforms (CHAS, Constructionline, Builders Profile) which include modern slavery checks as part of their assessment.
- Annual review of our supply chain risk profile.
Training and awareness
Our office staff and supervisors receive briefings on the indicators of modern slavery and the action to take if a concern arises. Site supervisors are aware that any operative on a Trent Valley project is to be paid through PAYE for our directly employed labour, or through a verified subcontractor's payroll for subcontract labour.
Effectiveness
We measure the effectiveness of our approach by the absence of any reported or identified modern slavery concerns in our business or our direct supply chain. We will continue to monitor this and update our approach as good practice develops.
Approval
This statement has been approved by the Director of Trent Valley Contracting Limited and will be reviewed and updated annually.
